Covilhã, the Capital of “street art” in Portugal
Covilhã lies between rivers and mountains and is a gateway to Portugal’s highest mountain: Serra da Estrela. Funny detail: in this city is located the sexiest bridge in Europe!
The wool museum in Covilhã is a great example of how much the textile industry means to this region. There are several looms and films that take an historical look at the wool industry.
These factories are now used as spaces where the younger and more creative generation does its thing, like workshops, exhibitions and other forms of creativity.
Because this city is located a bit higher, it’s colder, and that’s why the houses don’t have the typical Portuguese tiles on the walls. In this city is located Puralã Wool Valley Hotel & Spa, which is great hotel to stay in, that embraces the concept of the city’s old theme: the “wool”.
